Cape Police seek a stabbing suspect
Cape Girardeau police are searching for a man suspected of allegedly stabbing his cousin Tuesday afternoon. Detectives are looking for 49-year-old Calvin Ayers. He allegedly went to his cousin’s house on the 600-block of North Lormier at 5:30 Tuesday and stabbed him in the lower back with a pocket knife. Corporal Adam Glueck said they are still trying to piece the crime together. Glueck says Ayers fled the scene in a white Chevy Caprice before police arrived. The victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Ayers is described as a black male, 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. If you have any information about his whereabouts, call Cape P-D at 335-6621. The prosecutor has now charged him with felony 2nd-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
